NPAC Regions

The NPAC consists of eight regional LNP databases: one in Canada and seven in the U.S. The U.S. regions mirror the post-divestiture Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC) territories: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, Western, West Coast.

The NPAC service areas normally are defined by the boundaries of states included in each NPAC region. The one exception involves a portion of Northern Kentucky. Although Kentucky is part of the Southeast NPAC region service area, some Kentucky rate areas are instead defined to be part of the Midwest NPAC region. These rate areas are Alexandria, Boone, Butler, Covington, Falmouth, Glencoe, Independence, Walton, Warsaw, and Williams. Network data for the NPA-NXXs and LRNs involving these rate areas must be populated in the Midwest NPAC's network data tables, not in the Southeast NPAC's network data tables.
